Getting the right message in front of the right people is so difficult. That’s where awareness campaign videos come in. They can be the missing piece of the puzzle, making sure that your message is heard and that your audience stays engaged long enough to take action. Video is an effective way for charities, nonprofits and change makers to connect with people and shed light on specific issues or events.
At Neck of the Woods Films we recognise that spreading awareness can sometimes be half the battle. We’ve created films that have highlighted social justice issues, made specific pieces of information more widely accessible and generated public interest. We’ve made these films for charities, nonprofits and other organisations who are looking to make a real difference in the world, something we feel incredibly proud of.
Hero films aren’t just for brands, they’re also a powerful way of campaigning for awareness. A campaign video can shed light on social issues. They can also be the glue that holds together various campaign elements. Having a central film, with other videos and content set around it, can help organisations to run long term campaigns for maximum impact.
Awareness isn’t always about facts, figures and stories of widespread injustice. Often, the story of a single person’s experience can be a snapshot of why change needs to happen. This can be just as powerful for raising awareness. Documentary films are powerful ways of telling these stories and helping to motivate potential change makers.
Sometimes, the issue that needs awareness is so complex or specific that only an animation can capture it. With animation it can be much easier to demonstrate complex social issues or injustices. It’s also much easier to visualise statistics and figures which can boost the efforts of awareness campaigns.
We’ve worked with organisations of all shapes and sizes, from large national charities like Drinkaware and Book Aid to small local charities like Southampton Hospitals Charity and York Road Project. We’ve told stories that have been used to inspire local communities and reach people through national campaigns. Our showreel contains some of our favourite awareness videos.

Centre for Ageing Better are a charity that raise awareness on issues surrounding ageing in the UK. They also build on this. The charity looks to proactively encourage programmes and reforms that make ageing in the UK a more positive and equitable experience.
We created this film to help them give a clear picture of what ageing in the UK was like in 2022. The film is based entirely on real experiences and demonstrates the need for an Older People’s Commissioner.
Every year the charity Drinkaware commissions a survey to try and understand the drinking habits of the nation. They share their findings as a way of increasing awareness around drinking and the potential dangers.
We created a series of animations that visualised the lived experiences of some of the people the charity spoke with. Using anonymised stories, we were able to bring these experiences to life through animation and raise awareness about alcohol consumption.
The WPSM team at University of Southampton are responsible for making sure that more students can participate in the university experience. They look to increase the number of students coming from non-traditional backgrounds. The team also work to make sure that everyone can make the most of their time at the university. One way they do this is through their Academic Skills Service.
We worked with them to create 2 films that formed part of a campaign to increase uptake of this service. This included creating a film that highlighted how students could access the service and a video about the team themselves.
SoCo Music Project is a charity that supports people through music and creativity. Through increasing participation, the charity looks to use the power of music to positively impact the community. They run programmes with carers, ex-offenders and organisations like CAMHS in order to change lives through music.
We created a documentary for the charity. The film expresses the idea that music is a powerful force for good. Through capturing a real story, it shows potential participants and funders the real world impact the charity has.
We work with change makers to create campaign videos about positive change, human achievement and social impact. It may be the story that builds local awareness or the hero film that spearheads a national fundraising campaign. If you’re looking to change the world in some way, you need these stories to be told well. Non-profits make our world better every day, but they aren’t always the best at telling these stories. We’re a full service video agency that helps charities, non profits and educators do just that.
