The University of Southampton welcome thousands of students each year, to whom they show a welcome film. This year, the university were looking to create a new film that captured the experiences of current students and staff members. The resulting film would leave new students feeling positive and uplifted about their upcoming degree. They wanted to feature as many students as possible, and to show all of the campuses that University of Southampton operate.
We spent three days filming at University of Southampton. The first was for capturing cutaway and drone footage of the various campuses. The other two days of filming were spent interviewing students and staff members. Here we delved into their personal experiences and stories. With the campuses being so active, we made sure that our interview setup was compact whilst still packing a punch. Fortunately for us, we’ve worked in enough situations where a small footprint is necessary. Therefore we knew just how to tackle this, and our flexible team was able to be adaptive to this need. Who doesn’t love a challenge?

The final film served as the initial point of contact for students who were passing through the doors of University of Southampton. It’s a recognition of this giant step that they are taking, a celebration of past achievements and a look towards the future. This is about appreciating every single person that has chosen to study at the university and welcoming them in the warmest possible way.
