Southampton Hospitals Charity

The brief

So many human stories, one impactful video.

University Hospital Southampton is a key part of the city of Southampton and is a hub for medical care throughout the South of England. We were asked by Southampton Hospitals Charity to produce a film to show what a day in the hospital is like. The goal was to showcase the great work that both the hospital and the charity do. The film had to give a true representation of hospital life whilst making sure that each department was shown. Above all else though, the film had to be emotive and impactful.

What we did

For this project being flexible and sensitive was key to successfully delivering the film. Whilst it was important to capture the right footage, we had to be respectful of the working hospital environment. So we assembled a small crew and a portable set up so we could be reactive to the environment. Once we had the footage, we could combine it with the right soundscape to create an emotive film that accurately shows hospital life.

Our partnership
We’ve been lucky to work with Southampton Hospitals Charity for a number of years now. Becoming a partner in the incredible work that they do.

Together, we’ve created charity films to boost campaigns across the whole of University Hospital Southampton. From films fundraising small items that improve the lives of individual patients, to entire wards that protect the health of people across the south of England, the work we produce with them is varied and impactful. The campaigns and appeals have made a real difference for the patients who use the hospital. To be a part of the work that the Southampton Hospitals Charity do is both rewarding and humbling.

This has included creating appeal videos (including animation), talking to case studies and filming around the hospital. We frequently go to them with just simple ideas of what we want to do, and they go away and work with the idea and make it into something really special.
